Adrift but not alone

Especially in difficult times, it can be hard to find sources of acceptance, affirmation, and healing.

Often the people closest to us - family, classmates, and co-workers, don't accept us for who we are.

Perhaps we are gifted and see the world differently, in a new relationship and scared of old mistakes, are living an alternative lifestyle, or are trying to better understand ourselves and our past.

Whatever the reason, we also desire to be happy, whole, and loved - and especially to become something more than what we are.

Discovering your power

Let’s learn to put your fears into words and break down the dissonance between who you are and who you want to be.

A big part of this is challenging and overcoming negative thoughts, and rediscovering joy.

We have experience with people of all ages and people leaving or scared of relationships, survivors of sexual abuse, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Licensed Trauma Therapist
John-Paul Witt, MA, MSW, LIMHP, LICSW

I am originally from Miami, Florida, and was drawn to counseling early in my career as a high school teacher and graduate student.

I completed a clinical practicum in inpatient psychiatry and worked professionally in inpatient substance use rehab, as a psychiatric social worker, and as a high school social worker.

I have a great deal of experience with young adult women, men, and nonbinary clients. Poly/kink friendly and open to working with people in alternative lifestyles.

Early on, I realized the importance of acceptance in the therapeutic relationship, and I now practice cognitive-behavioral and dialectical-behavioral therapy to help my clients break through their negative thoughts and flip the script on their unwanted habits.

While I am fully licensed in Nebraska & Iowa, I am also pursuing a doctorate in clinical social work to further enhance my ability to serve my clients with the latest and best clinical techniques.
